“Thank you for spending the day with my seventh grade geography classes.  Your knowledge of African music was educational, active and fun for both students and teachers.  Thank you again for a phenomenal presentation.  It was a fabulous learning experience that my students and I will never forget!”

“I liked learning about different sounds and tones on the drums . . .  I want to take drum classes now.  if you see me on tv  as a famous drummer, remember it’s because of you.”

“This was one of the best examples of classroom management I’ve seen. You were able to connect with each student in the room, in some way.  I felt that each student contributed to some aspect of the lesson which lets them see that all of their ideas have value.

The students were able to be completely engaged because of the variety of activities you used.  You gradually built upon each activity to the final product where students drummed and recited the verses to their song.  By allowing everyone to add something to the song and then choosing multiple leaders, there was a reason for each of them to be involved.

I really enjoyed this lesson.  I was impressed with the way you accomplished so many different activities in a short amount of time.  Each different activity was the perfect length of time and kept the students engaged. This was an excellent example of teaching and arts integration.”

“Ms. Hill is a highly competent and skilled educator and presenter. She worked hard to prepare her session to meet the specific needs of this partnership.  She recognized the contributions of teachers as crucial to the process of the workshop.  Her methods were active and hands-on.  She encouraged participants to take risks.  Her standpoint as a teaching artist and teacher allowed participants to connect quickly.  She spoke with authority.  I loved her use of metaphor.  This was a fantastic PD session.”
